Ever fancied running, but looking for a place to start?
Join our next Couch to 5K course starting Monday 27th April 2020!
We often receive inquiries from people looking to take that first leap into one of our regular sessions , but who perhaps don’t have the confidence or experience to run our 5k route.
As we pride ourselves on being a club that caters for all levels of runner, we would like to ensure that everyone has the confidence and ability to join us. This is why in 2018 we started our 9-week couch-to-5k course and its been a success ever since!
The next course starts on Monday 27th April 2019. We meet at 7pm and run every Monday thereon for 9 weeks including Bank Holidays.
Its costs just £50pp and you will be fully supported by a run leader and a team of volunteers every week. We will supply a training schedule, which will require you to do an additional two days training per week – but don’t worry – we will also provide support via your very own Couch to 5K Facebook page, and Whatsapp group. Here is some feedback from our first course which was a sell out…

The weekly Monday session meets in our clubhouse, 130 Druid Street, ideally located close to the start of our regular running routes along the Thames and a great place to socialise with a drink post-run!
Our first Couch to 5k graduates even got on BBC Breakfast with Carol Kirkwood!
The course will begin with an introduction to walking/running over very short distances, with the aim of gradually increasing your stamina to complete a 5k run by the final week. Our new members will then “graduate” at our local parkrun, with a post-run celebration in true London City Runner style!
Throughout the course you’ll be welcome to attend our normal club sessions to fit your own training in if you like and give you a taste of what the normal club sessions look like. Of course you’re also welcome to attend all our socials from the start!
Once you’re graduated you should find that others in your course start going along to the regular sessions and you’ll already know our Tuesday route by heart.

Meet your course leader – Morgan
Morgan took up running in 2014 when she signed up to a Race For Life with her university housemates, she remembers wanting to pull out at kilometre 3, however she has been running ever since. She has now completed 3 half marathons and is training for her 4th
Morgan joined London City Runners when she moved back to London and regularly attends their Tuesday and Sunday runs. She loves running with a group and being able to share this with other people. She has a “Leader in Running Fitness” qualification and loves helping others also find their love of running

One final note…
If given the current COVID-19 situation we need to cancel the course don’t worry all participants who have booked a place will be given a full refund
If you’ve missed the start of the course it IS still possible to join late. It will be up to you whether you feel you can catch up (we can send you an idea of how far the course has progressed on the week you want to join). We can also offer a discount if you have missed some weeks.
We often find some runners want to join late as they don’t want to do the whole course and just want to grow in confidence with their own running and meet some fellow runners. If this is you, just get in touch and we can discuss your options!
