THEN COME JOIN OUR COUCH-TO-5K COURSE!
Our club has been running a successful couch-to-5k course since 2018. We’ve helped 100s of people into a more active lifestyle, seen them grow in confidence as runners, and make new friends while they’re at it!
Our next course starts on Monday 10th January 2022. Thanks to the support of Southwark Council, we’re currently offering the course for FREE to Southwark residents! (Please note we still welcome anyone outside of Southwark to join but please note our standard course fee of £50 applies).
The course will meet every Monday evening for 9 weeks. We’ll be using our clubhouse at this time of year as a meeting point and bag drop, before doing the practice runs nearby. Not only do you have the support of your peers and volunteers, but we also have a special Facebook group full of people on the same journey. We encourage everyone in the group to share their runs, stories, hints and tips and ask questions. Many of our volunteers have completed the couch to 5k course themselves.
After the 9 weeks are over, we all go to the local parkrun to complete a 5K, followed by a “graduation” brunch. Many participants then come and join the regular run sessions. We even have a group of “graduates” every Tuesday and Thursday who run together.

Meet the team…
Morgan took up running in 2014 when she signed up to a Race For Life with her university housemates, she remembers wanting to pull out at kilometre 3, however she has been running ever since. She has now completed several half-marathons and even a full marathon!
Morgan joined London City Runners when she moved back to London and regularly attends their Tuesday and Sunday runs. She loves running with a group and being able to share this with other people. She has a “Leader in Running Fitness” qualification and loves helping others also find their love of running
Helen completed a couch to 5K course in October 2017 and joined London City Runners about six months later. Despite a few injuries along the way she now runs about four times a week and is delighted by the difference running has made to her health and her social life! She is now a qualified Run Leader, she has taken part in over 100 parkruns and several 10K races and she ran her first half marathon in March 2020. She is now training for her first marathon in September 2021.
