“My name is Alfie, I’m a maths student at University College London. I started running about 2 years ago for fitness and I couldn’t even make it to the end of the road. Now I run 3-4 times a week and I’m aiming for a sub 3 hour marathon in the spring. I love running with others and I’m now the treasurer of the UCL Running Club. ”

Hi, I’m Katharine. When I’m not busy in the library trying to understand the intricate details of the human body as part of my medical degree, you’ll find me pounding through the streets of London aiming to improve my mile time, train for an upcoming event or just take in all the beautiful buildings that line the river Thames.

I’m relatively new to running: I started just over 3 years ago but quickly grew to love it. Since then I have completed 2 marathons (London and Berlin 2016) and will be training for London again this year.  I have done a lot of my marathon training in London so have discovered some great running routes filled with some of the most beautiful and historic buildings in London to keep you entertained over the miles, whether you’re looking to keep up with a training schedule or discover the sites and history of London through a running tour.

“Hi, I’m Helen. Having only ever managed the obligatory annual cross country ordeal at school, I got into running about 9 years ago after watching the London marathon – I decided I’d run 4 times a week for 2 weeks until I no longer walked like John Wayne the next day and somewhere in that fortnight I caught the running bug! I’ve done 5ks, 10ks, half marathons and even a couple of marathons and podcasts keep me company on longer runs”
